Billing & Coding (CBCS) - Term 3

Service Description

This fully online, 8-week course is designed to prepare students to earn a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). With instructor led classes, projects, and guest speakers. This course covers the skills needed in order for students to solve insurance billing and coding problems. Students will learn the basics of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases), and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System). Students will learn the basics of the Revenue Cycle and Regulatory Compliance, Insurance Eligibility, Payer Requirements, Coding and Coding Guidelines, and Billing and Reimbursement processes. In addition, students will learn basic anatomy terms and learn to recognize how to put medical terms together using parts of words and how to communicate effectively and professionally in a healthcare environment.
