My name is Kayla and from the age of 10 to just a year ago my parents were addicts. My whole childhood I dealt with strangers in and out of my home and some pretty bad abuse due to their addiction. At the age of 13 I went to stay with my grandpa until he suddenly passed of a heart attack 2 years later. Then I went to stay with my great grandparents until the age of 18 when I moved in with my first love and who would soon become the father of my very brave and beautiful daughter Allana. At the age of 21 she came into my life and completely made me reevaluate my future. After 4 years of being with her father we parted ways and I was left doing the mom thing alone. That was until I rekindled a long past relationship, I had in 2011. I had dropped out of high school with only a year left to go so a few years after her birth I decided to go back to what I had no idea would be the most challenging 3 years of my life but successfully completed it. At the end of my time at The Excel Center Shelbyville I heard about Katies Pharm Tech Classes and instantly had an interest. I felt with what I had gone through as a child that it only seemed fitting that I go into the Pharm field. I instantly loved Katie and her class. She was one of the most attentive and strong-willed teachers I had ever had! I Completed her class in just 8 short weeks and now I'm off to put my hard work to use in February at a CVS or a hospital setting! My life has been filled with wrong turns and surprises but I'm sure glad I ended up where i did it'll be a nice spot to be in for my family and I.
