Hi! My name is Maddie and I’m 23. I got pregnant with my daughter at 17 and ended up dropping out of high school. I worked minimum wage jobs and could hardly make ends meet for my daughter and I. I always intended to go back to school so that I would qualify for better jobs, but I couldn’t figure out a way to do it. I found the Excel Center in 2019 and that’s where I met Katie. I became interested in taking her class when she was speaking to a group of students about the opportunity of becoming a pharmacy technician. Hearing her story and seeing how she turned her life around was inspiring and I wanted to be able to do that for my daughter and myself. While in her class, I received so much support, not only from other students but from Katie. She made herself completely available to anyone who needed extra help and genuinely cares about every single student that takes the class. Since taking the class, Katie helped me get a job at a hospital where I worked in their pharmacy. I have also had different companies contact me about positions at their facilities. My daughter and I have a much better life and I owe it all Katie and this class.
